The Process Development and Manufacturing Intern is responsible for supporting the development processes and maintenance of facilities and equipment in the process development and purification laboratory and manufacturing area. This role will primarily involve hands-on work in protein purification on a bench scale and supporting reagent antigen production in BSL2.

Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):
  • Assist in bench-scale protein purification.
  • Assist in purification needs for reagent production.
  • Assist in purification needs for reagent antigen production in BSL2.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in writing and updating related SOPs, records, protocols, and development reports.
  • Collaborate with Supervisor to execute projects to meet timelines.
  • Assists Research Associates in purification activities.
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific field; Preference given to 3rd or 4th year undergraduate students
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate testing, documentation, and compliance with strict regulatory standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with others across the organization as well as the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, calculating concentrations, dilutions, molarity and basic statistical analysis.
  • Exhibit high level of service orientation, confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with general supervision to deliver work product
  • High attention to detail and deliver work of expected quality in a timely manner
  • High level of interest in learning and applying skills in a business environment
Working Environment and Travel:
Duties will be performed in normal laboratory, and cleanroom environment. Work in aseptic setting, ISO5 environment.
Travel is not typical for this position.

Physical Requirements: 
Job requires good physical mobility. Ability to move over 100 pounds by mechanical means. Be able to sit for extended periods of time. Able to wear aseptic gowning for extended periods of time. Employee may be required to wear a PAPR or Respirator for cleaning. Specific vision abilities required by this individual include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
