The Research Associate 1 PDM, specializing in process development and purification, will be primarily responsible for supporting protein purification processes and equipment maintenance in the Process Development and Purification laboratories and Manufacturing at SAB Biotherapeutics.
Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Duties will be performed in normal laboratory and occasionally in BSL2 laboratory.
Travel is not typical for this position.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires good physical mobility. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and move over 100 pounds by mechanical means. Be able to sit for extended periods of time. Able to wear aseptic gowning for extended periods of time.
Employee may be required to wear a PAPR or Respirator for cleaning.
Specific vision abilities required by this individual include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):
- Assist in protein purification on a bench scale and clinical scale.
- Maintain accurate records of purifications, ensuring adherence to GLP when required.
- Record laboratory notebook entries as necessary.
- Support the creation of methods on chromatography software.
- Assist in the optimization of current purification methods and protocols.
- Contribute to the maintenance of equipment used in the PDP and MFG department.
- Assist in general laboratory maintenance, including preparing buffers, ordering supplies, and tracking samples.
- Assist with cleaning activities as needed in the Cleanrooms and Bench area.
- Assist with calibrations and maintenance events on equipment related to PDP and Manufacturing.
- Assist with purification and filling of clinical product as needed based on Clinical needs.
- Assist MFG group on the cleanroom Environmental Monitoring.
- Assist with Shipping, Receiving, and Ordering with equipment and materials related to PDP & Manufacturing.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:
- Associates (required) or Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in a related field and 1 or more years of experience, preferably in a cleanroom or related environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate and work with people from different departments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups.
- Mathematical skills to consist of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Able to calculate dilutions and molarity. Statistical mathematics background not necessary but preferred.
